Lapageria rosea
(Copihue)

This is probably the most famous Chilean plant, the bell flower. It is the National Flower of Chile. It generally comes is red-pinkish color, and very rarely one can find in nature albine flowers as well. The fruits are edible and have pleasant sweet taste, especially when they are not yet ripe. The ripe fruits have hard seeds, and eating becomes rather complicating.

Puya berteroniana
(Puya, Chagual, Cardon, Magüey)

This plant is an excellent option for outdoor growing in colder climates (-5º C), one of few bromeliaceae that can withstand freezing temperatures. Combine that with a very strange appearance, big green flowers and you get a first-class ornamental"

Puya coerulea
(Chagualillo)

This is one of those all-terrain "exotic" Chilean plants which is relatively easy to grow and is suitable for a wide variety of environmental conditions. Its limiting factor is that it does not tolerate prolonged freezing temperatures and snow cover. Its red stem and branches make a nice contrast with the dark-purple, almost black flowers with their yellow stamens and green pistil, and it preserves its strange appearance when covered with fruits, which are reminiscent of garlic cloves.
