New distribution range for Miersia chilensis Lindl.
The southern limit of the distribution range of Miersia chilensis is given as the 6th Region. However, we have discovered a rather large population on our premises at Libueno, Pelarco, Talca, 7th Region (latitude 36º25'). The population is located at an altitude between 300 and 400 m above sea level on the slopes and bottom of a narrow, profound ravine with intermittent water flow, along of its length of 400 m.
This finding extends the known distribution range of this plant by more than 100 km. southwards.
